art & photography gallery > memoirs of the past

This piece was one of my first instances ever working with clay as a creative material, during my sophomore year of high school. I was following instincts at the time, leading with the joy of creation.
A frozen deer skull, wrapped in frosted vines and budding blue roses; decorated by a crescent and star.

Little did I realize - this piece would wind up selected as ''being among the best artwork produced by high school students in the state of Massachusetts''. (via article)

Back then, I wasn't aware of the competition - Or aware of how important that award was. It was done for the sake of making art; because that was my way of breathing.
