“Komorebi” (木漏れ日) is a Japanese word I came across in the last few years. It describes sunlight filtered through the leaves of a tree. It’s one of the most commonly captured themes in my camera roll, giving a fair competition to sunsets.

It’s become a favored word of mine.
I tend to take my camera with me everywhere I go, because it’s a good way to practice presence. I’m a chronic sufferer of OCD, and, this feeling or phenomena - “komorebi,” It’s one of the few occurrences where the beauty of the present is so captivating that my mind finally becomes a still place. It emancipates me from the constant noise in my head. For this reason, I spend a lot of time outside during the warmer months. This gallery is an ongoing collection of photos that will be of those fleeting moments - as many of these pictures are taken while in motion via cycling, long drives or walking.

Through editing, I try to show what those moments genuinely feel like to me. Not only am I fond of vintage style photography, but I also experience the world through that lens of nostalgia on an internal level. Peace often feels like something nostalgic; a distant memory rather than a constant, so I hold onto it whenever I can.

I hope by sharing my peace - others are able to find solace in it, too. Given the state of the world, I desire to offer people a way of finding escape through the beauty of nature.

It's something we are a part of - not separate from, and it's important to spend time in it. Our bodies naturally ease with birdsong and sunlight.
I harbor wishful thinking that it slowly becomes a practice everyone has access to in their daily lives someday.

The lens being used for the majority of these shots is a Disposable Camera Lens 3D printed to fit a Sony E-Mount Camera.
