Birth of Dragons
Birth of Dragons

An emotional experience based piece, and I’d written a story to go with it. It was tale of how dragons came to be in the world. My memory pertaining to the details is faint now, but it went something like this...

A man who lived by the water, gazed upon the stars each eve. The stars - unbeknown to his knowledge - were longingly staring back at him. One brilliant golden star that shimmered over the windswept moors and diamond studded sea waves seemed to hold his sights most oft. He'd converse with this star, spewing drunken tales of his life - his losses, loneliness and desires.

From the safety of the heavens it descended, falling for the human man. To remedy his emptiness; mistaking his doting consistence and conversation for unrequited love.

Enamored, she began her dance from the cosmos unto the earth. As her colors pirouetted through the night pitched sky, the man made a wish. He wanted to be rich.

The star gently submerged into the ocean's cradle and washed ashore from her sea-foam womb as a woman born of gilded stone.

She approached the man's home; arms open awaiting the embrace of love. The man was in love too; with her coin colored flesh and bone. He'd thought the woman been sent from the heavens as a granted wish, to ease his pockets and for life.

Three spears were slung over his back as he tumbled his way to the shoreline, star-struck with greed; incapable of valuing the magic that stood before him being wealth that man’s money could never price.

The woman's yearning for embrace was met with a thrice-pierced heart. Her chest split wide open, radiating cosmic light until it collapsed into shadows. Her body shattered into dust, as the shadows began to shape themselves into monstrous creatures. Their size exponentially grew to a frightening degree.

And so, dragons descended upon the earth. The man was devoured for his betrayal.
It is rumored that this is the reason why dragons hoard gold from the likes of mankind.

The three spears are representative of people. I don't remember the original story anymore and I'd lost where I'd written it down - this is as close as it gets!
